The Ethiopian Coffee & Tea Authority and the Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) announced the launching of a micro-lot coffee trading platform for high quality coffee. The platform will be trading coffees with a cupping score of 85 and which can claim strict traceability.It will start its operation the coming Monday by trading the COE Ethiopia's 2021 national winners . The authority also added the platform will strengthen the activities of competitive trading on global scale in securing premium prices from premium coffees besides its crucial role of enhancing the activities of coffee farmers and suppliers.
BMZ in partnership with ECTA has announced the winners of Coffee Innovation Fund (CIF) 2.0 , 2021 winners.The fund is active in Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda.It has awarded five entrepreneurs up to 58,000$ in investment to Debo Engineering, Konjo Coffee, Carble B.V, YA Coffee, and Moyee Coffee Roasting Ethiopia.The award aims to empower activities that contribute to the modernization of the coffee value and supply chain.
Vida e Caffè, one of South Africa’s largest independent chain of coffee shops and beverage products supplier, has settled US$2.9 million investment from AfricInvest Private Credit.The investment will support the coffee house’s expansion in Ghana and further extends its footprint to Côte d’Ivoire adding a total of 42 new locations.The privately owned coffee brand had 350 stores as of May 2020 with 330 being in South Africa and 20 on the rest of the African continent i.e., Ghana, Mauritius and Zambia.Vida e caffee put some good Ethiopian Single-origin Sidamo coffee to its roast bean and capsule product “ Electra ‘’.
