Ethiopian green coffee trade
As the harvest mellow out in most core producing areas ECX’s trading floor traded 1,526,707kg of green coffee, nearly a similar amount to the preceding week. The trade of Naturals accounted for 1,472,738kg with slight decrement from prior one & Washed ones covered 53,969 kg with a slight drop from the previous week. We had increased greater volumes of Natural Godere 287,555kg followed by 74,760kg of Natural Benchi, The volume of natural Sidamo traded reached 71,995kg. Across washed coffees, Washed Keffa came first with 23,995kg. Average vertical contract prices for Washed Yirgacheffe recorded $6.92 with ten cents increment. The average vertical contract price for Washed Limmu G2 was around $5.19/kg adding 2 cents from the prior week.ECTA's price for Washed Yirgacheffe G2 was $2.29/Ib.down 54cents, Washed Sidamo G2 at $2.74/lb., remaining the same Washed as of the previous week.ECTA prices for Limmu G2 at 1.84$/lb. 30 cents down & Natural Sidamo G4 at 1.70/Ib., with 22 cents decrement.
We have been observing consistent price accession over the past few months on red-cherry & vertical contract prices.ECX is no different from these price upsurges. Green coffee prices have seen an additional 117usc/kg compared to the same time of 2020/21's Ethiopian fiscal year first half.

The record exports of Ethiopian green coffees seem to be steady with over 148,000mt shipped surpassing the 123,000mt target for the first fiscal year. Sales revenues were recorded to be $578 million with $274 million higher compared to the same period of the preceding year. Germany imports stood first with 37,000mt followed by Saudi Arabia & Japan taking the second & third place while China’s imports saw a 200% increase from the same time of the previous year.
