Trade through the Ethiopian coffee week

ECX’s floor concluded with the export coffee trade of 52,127kg natural coffees. The trade of Natural Sidamo covered over 41.5 % with 21,675kgs with keffa, Bench & Godere coffees covering the remaining portion. Price increment along vertical prices seems to continue across the core natural coffees. The vertical price for Natural Sidama was around $2.82/Ib. with $0.89/Ib additional from the previous week, Natural Djimmah price went to $2.02 /Ib while Natural Lekempti price was recorded to be $2.12/kg with price gains in both coffees.ECTA's minimum prices for selected naturals have been going Natural Sidamo G4 at $1.99/Ib.,Natural Djimmah G5 at $1.73/Ib.& Natural Lekempti G5 at $1.75/Ib, in which prices dropped up by 1 cent for Sidama & went the same for Djimmah & Lekempti compared to the prior week.

The Southern Western Ethiopia People Region gives the renowned coffee types such as Sidama & Benchi. The region’s coffee-growing zones include Dawro, Konta, Sheka, keffa & Bench Sheka. Following the completed program on old coffee trees replacement, the ECTA announced above 302,803hectare of the region’s land is currently covered by coffee plantations. In the past six months, the region has supplied 39,566MT of coffee to the central market up 10% compared to the same period of 2021 with estimated supplies of 61,864MT for the full fiscal year with the Benchi Sheka zone taking the lion’s share in coverage. We are happy to work with respected farmers in the area who produce a greater profile of coffee for our esteemed partners. Colombia’s February exports downs 25.6%

The National Federation Coffee Growers of Colombia’s announced unfavorable weather conditions contributed to decreases in exports for February. February’s export declined to 58,800MT compared to 78,000MT same period the prior year. 2022’s production reached 108,000MT,18% down compared from 132,000MT 2021’s same period.
