The ECTA plans to export more than 5.8 million bags of coffee.

The Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority announced that it is working on an ambitious plan to export more than 5.8 million bags of coffee (350,000 MT) in the current Ethiopian fiscal year. (July 8, 2023–July 7, 2024) The authority emphasized the attainability of the plan, referring to August export volumes of 27,000 MT with revenue earnings of 140 million USD.

The World Specialty Coffee and Exhibition kicks off in Tokyo on September 27, 2023.

The Specialty Coffee Association of Japan (SCAJ) will hold its annual conference and exhibition from September 27 to 29 at Tokyo Big Sight. This year’s event is celebrated with the theme  "Celebrating 20 years of SCAJ with you". The event is expected to attract a great number of exhibitors and visitors attending the highly sought-after specialty coffee event. The 2023 Japanese Barista, Cup Tasters, and Coffee Roasting Championships will all take place at this event, along with the various coffee origins lectures and coffee cupping sessions.

Japan has been one of the longest-standing Ethiopian green coffee importers. Recent data from the ECTA shows that Japan ranked 6th in importing more than 14,500 MT of the 2021/2022-23 crop over the past Ethiopian fiscal year (July 8, 2022 - July 7, 2023).
