It feels the current Ethiopian coffee trading atmosphere has got some good spark as the two authorities try to regulate the trading scheme for one of earth’s prestigious treasure. The tension between the authorities escalated as ECX doubled the price fluctuation to 10 % above or below the previous trading date.ECTA on the other end spurns the measure as this development will make the commodity expensive to the global market & explain ECX’s intention to increase the flow of the commodity to its trading platform. The new practice will be effective as of the end of this month, but the availability of more coffee at ECX, regulated prices & a healthy market are yet to be seen in the long journey for the year ahead.
In one of ECTA’s recent briefings, the Authority mentioned that China continues to be among the top 10 importers of Ethiopia's coffee in August being a bean superior choice. It is reported that China’s coffee consumption has been growing exponentially at a reported rate of 15 to 20 percent annually.
