ECX’s trading floor traded above 1,415,000 kg of green coffee, a close amount to the foregoing week. The trade of Naturals accounted for 1,315,342kg with stable supplies across the past few months & Washed ones covered 100,079 kg with an almost two-fold volume from the previous week. The volume of natural Lekempti recorded to be 83,436 kg while the volume of natural Sidamo traded reached 73,882kg a few hundred bags higher than the previous week.ECTA's minimum prices for selected Naturals include Lekempti G5 going at $1.70/Ib.Natural Djimmah at $1.68/Ib. & Natural Sidamo G4 at 1.93/Ib., up 2 cents from the prior week.
Capital news sources reported the increased local trade of green coffee at ECX. The sources attributed this development to the increased movement of export supplies coffee through the vertical integration market scheme. Capital emphasizes the decrement green coffee movement from Oromia through the trading floor & whilst affirming the price spikes across green coffees traded at the ECX both for local & international markets.
Organizers for COE Ethiopia announced the green coffee sample receiving dates. Coffee growers with 20 hectares of land are eligible to participate in this much-anticipated event. Green coffee sample types include specially processed (Honey, Anaerobic, etc.), washed & natural processed coffees. These samples are set to be collected at Addis Ababa, Djiimmah, Hawasa (Sidama), and Dire Dawa.
