ECX’s floor concluded with the local trade of 427,369kg with 162,631kg down compared to the previous week. The trade of Naturals accounted for over 154,111kg which has seen a decrement of 275,889 kg while washed ones covered 290,740kg with an additional 140,740 kg green coffee.ECTA's minimum prices for in-demand naturals have been going Natural Sidamo G4 at $2.00/Ib.,Natural Djimmah G5 at $1.73/Ib.& Natural Lekempti G5 at $1.75/Ib, in which prices increased up by 3 cents for Sidama & Djimmah, & down 1cent for Lekempti compared to the previous week.
Ethiopia’s state-of-the-art coffee training center has started its operation. The center is expected in bringing capable coffee experts both for Ethiopia & East Africa. ECTA’s DG Adunga Debela in his part said the center will greatly contribute to the promotion of the riches in Ethiopian coffee. The event has been attended by numerous international & local officials including Italy’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Marina Sereti. It is to be recalled the center was built & started operations by joint efforts of ECTA, the Italian government & UNIDO.
West showa is an area located 235km west of Addis Ababa previously known for the production of grains & brown beans. Recently the area seems to be highly regarded for its coffee production potential. In this development MFM, Menschen fur Menschen a German development agency has been active in providing support to the youth involved in the coffee processing. The agency has also contributed to the plantation activities in the area through fruit & coffee seedling distribution.
Afrovalley a blockchain company announced an NFT auction in selling six digital arts depicting the Ethiopian coffee industry. Bunakoo serves as Afrovalley’s core platform in promoting Ethiopian green coffee beans.
