Arabica’s flagship from the Northern Ethiopian state 

The Amhara regional state is an emerging coffee-producing area covered with 33,334 ha of land covered with coffee. Coffee is grown in more than 21 districts comprising 21 associations & unions. Districts such as Gugsa and Gunaga are known for producing some of the amazing coffees Ethiopia has to offer. In the past 3 years, the region has supplied more than 148,000kg of export-ready green coffee to the global market. In advancing this effort the regional coffee authority has recently distributed more than 6 million coffee seedlings.

Ethiopia discovered new medicine for coffee disease 

AAU (Addis Ababa University) announced the progress in the discovery of medicine for CWD(Coffee Wilt Disease ) which causes the premature ripening of beans & withering coffee trees. The new medicine is expected to be distributed to growers after a series of education & induction in its application & said to replace the previously imported medicine i.e Trichoderma.

 

Oscillating ICO prices 

ICO’s August composite indicator of price is already above the $ 2/Ib. reaching $2.01/Ib. , the preceding month entertained a fluctuating between $1.81- $1.97.ICO also briefed on July’s  32% decrement of New York certified green coffee stocks.
