The ITC's Coffee Guide is credited with being one of the most comprehensive and neutral sources of information on the international trade of coffee. The 4th edition has seen the efforts of over 70 experts across the coffee sector. The Coffee Guide covers various trade issues relevant to coffee growers, traders, exporters, transportation companies, certifiers, associations, authorities, and other relevant actors.
This very week, the ITC and ECTA launched the first Amharic version of the guide at an event held at the Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa. ITC’s executive director, Pamela Coke-Hamilton, said, "This is our first-ever Amharic version of the Coffee Guide, part of our move to more actively include coffee stakeholders in Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee. Adunga Debela (Ph.D.), director general at ECTA, emphasized the multi-level and all-embracing importance of the guide to producers, suppliers, exporters, and the various actors in the value and supply chain. H.E. Sofia Kassa (Ph.D.), State Minister for Ethiopia's Ministry of Agriculture, added to the potential of the translated guide serving as the go-to reference for knowledge-based and improved practices in the industry.
With Ethiopia’s nearly 2.2 million coffee farms (18% of the global share), the translated coffee guide is expected to play a significant role in knowledge sharing, impacting the value and supply chain of the Arabica nation.
